Don't Miss

The best android smartphone below ₦20,000 in
Nigeria at the moment is the Infinix hot 2
(Google's android one).
With a price of ₦19,500 (Jumia) for the 2GB
RAM version and ₦17,500 (Jumia) for the 1GB
RAM version – as at the time of this writing –
you cannot go wrong with this device for that
price.
How we arrived at this conclusion.
First off, the Infinix mobility's hot 2 is a Google
android one smartphone. A smartphone which
runs on stock android (pure android) out of the
box. Being an android one phone, it is slated to
receive automatic updates over the air directly
from Google (although Elroy is saying something
else)
Which means, based on our keen interest in the
relevance of the smartphone over a period of 12
– 18 months, the Infinix hot 2 passes.
Here's why:
Isn't obvious already?
Because it will receive updates directly from
Google over the period of 24 months, it means
that 12 months after purchasing this device,
you'd still be running on android's latest OS!
Enough on the software, here's what the hardware
can do:
The Infinix hot 2 has a 5" display with a
resolution of 720 by 1280 pixels and a pixel
density of 294 pixels per inch (one of the best
among its peers).
It has an 8 mega pixel rear camera (with a single
led flash) and a 2 mega pixel front facing camera
(no flash) for selfies and video calls.
Like most devices in this price range, its
processor is produced by MediaTek. Clocked at
1.3GHz, the Infinix hot 2 has a Quad-core
MediaTek MT6582 chipset – which is unarguably
fast enough for basic usage, and a little bit of
"heavy gaming".
Multitasking on this device shouldn't be a hassle
because it has a RAM of 2GB (we totally
recommend you get this version). This means
frequent "crashing" of open applications will be
at the barest minimum – and from the results
and reports we've seen so far, it's next to none.
Although not "huge", the Infinix hot 2 has an
internal storage capacity of 16GB (12.7GB
usable) which is impressive considering the fact
that most devices we came across while making
this decision were half that size.
With an internal storage of 16GB, most users will
not require additional space. But if you do, you
need not fret, because this phone has a micro SD
card slot which can accommodate up to 32GB
more space.
An issue we had with picking this smartphone
was the rather unimpressive battery capacity. At
just 2200mAh battery, it looks like child's play
where the two Gionee smartphones are.
Considering the fact that we are in a nation
where the power supply is really unpredictable,
one has to buy a phone which won't give up on
him halfway through the day.
But there's good news.
Last month, Infinix mobility announced that a
bigger battery is coming to the hot 2!
This is almost sounding like an Infinix hot 2
review post, but it's not actually exhaustive.
For a full review of this device, check out
MissTechy's (she has a video too). Geek NG and
Mobility also did a good job scrutinizing the
device.
What about the other devices!
Well, we actually stacked up their specifications
against each other.
